Getting slightly overwhelmed.
I'm still really excited to be planning such a lengthy trip but there is so much that I need to research. I'm not even completely positive about which countries I want to go to. As I find out more about Central America, it's hard to believe that I will be able to do everything that I would like in 6 months. I don't know if that's possible but it would be absolutely incredible to extend my trip either a few more months or make it a year long adventure.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Firstly, I really need to figure out exactly which countries I would like to go to. I have a basic idea and have already started looking up recommended cities and sites pertaining to each county. I think the next thing that I would like to do would be coming up with a tentative calendar. I'm interested in spreading out wwoofing throughout the trip and, since you need to become a paying member for each country that you would like to wwoof, I need to figure out when and where I would like to go. Reading about the Costa Rican farms that I could possible work for has added to my excitement to travel.
Also, I may start using Facebook a bit more.
I've recently been getting very tired of Facebook. Every now and then people post interesting articles and news, but for the most part it's nothing I really need to know. Yet, I'm now acutely aware of the people who have been or are traveling. I think I'm going to send a few messages to get some travel advice. I know that most of them are not traveling for such lengthy times, but they might still have some interesting tips.
I think I'm done with research for today.
While it was fun to read articles about different countries/cities/sites, I believe I'm done for the day. I need to have a few good hours researching with the person I'm traveling with. Doing this by myself is fun but I can never be sure if they'll be happy with my decisions. Today I read about chicken buses, Costa Rican farms, 6 month itineraries, and being eco-friendly while traveling.
Beaches, letters, sunburns

Making Travel Plans
I'm pretty excited to travel later this year.
I'm so excited that I thought I would begin my travel blog. I attempted to keep a blog when I went on my study abroad to Australia my junior year of college. Rereading the posts, I discovered that I mainly wrote about food, and as much as I like food, I think I'm going to try to stay away from that topic in future posts.
Currently I am starting to plan my trip.
Thus, my excitement. I have been playing with the idea of traveling after graduation for years. As graduation grew closer, and with little idea of what profession interested me, traveling seemed like the perfect post-graduate plan. Originally, I was looking into a trip to India. Now, I am considering Central and South America.
My day off was the perfect day to start planning my trip.
I spent my last day off in a coffee shop researching ideas for traveling. I had previously looked at backpacking blogs that focused on India before starting my summer job. They offered tips, tricks, and advice on making itineraries and packing for long periods of time. Although I was finding a lot of great information about India, I was still open to the idea of traveling elsewhere. I was still trying to find travel partners and decided not to get too attached to traveling a country until I found out where they (future travel partners) were interested in going. I also began to consider whoof-ing (whoofinternational.org). When I began to research whoofing, I discovered a lot of great opportunities in Central and South America. The more I looked at the many countries (how close they were, no visa fee, prices, etc) the more interested I became. While India still looks like an amazing place to go, I'm not sure if I still want to travel there this time around. Yet, I'm also considering going to India towards the end of my trip.
All I want to do is decide on the countries and start planning my itinerary!
I'm getting antsy. I looked at a bunch of itineraries that people have posted online about their travels in Central/South America. There's so much to do! I'm excited to really decide on countries to visit so I can research all the incredible cities and sights. I might also have someone to travel with. It's still a little up in the air but it's looking more promising every day. We just have to talk details. I've made a list of some things I would like out of this trip.
They are:
1. Travel cheap - I don't want to spent crazy amounts of money. I want to be able to enjoy the sites but I don't think I have to spend a crazy amount to do so.
2. Partying is for home - What's the point of traveling to a different country/culture to do the same thing I could do at home? I don't want to waste my money or time on drinking or going out.
3. Stay flexible - While I want to have an idea of where I want to go, I want to keep it open to change. If I fall in love with a city and decide to stay a few extra days, so be it.
4. Mix leisure with activity - I want to have days where I just bum around, I want to have days where I'm incredibly active, I want to have days where I'm volunteering and making a difference. Variety is the spice of life <3
5. Don't forget to have fun - This is supposed to be a crazy and freeing experience. I want to stay positive and have a great time trying new things.
6. Eat everything - Although I said that I wouldn't focus on food in this blog, I would still like to try new things and remember that I may not be able to experience certain dishes outside of the host countries.
7. Learn new things - I want to learn, learn, learn. Nuff' said.
And I have a lot more but I feel like they may change the closer I get to traveling. I think my final one right now would be 8. stay organized. I would like to plan this trip as neatly as possible and feel as little stress as possible.
I can't wait for my next day off.
I'll have more time to research and hopefully I'll have more details from future travel partners. To finish off my posts, I think I'm going to continue what I had been doing on my old posts: signing off with three words that describe what's going on/how I'm feeling/anything that I'm thinking. With that,
snacking, showering, cuddling
